Canada's favourite dancer...

Last night on SYTYCD Canada (we know we can, we KNOW!!!), Canada's Favourite dancer was crowned... and all I have to say is:

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I give you a moment with Canada's top 2 dancers, Allie Bertram and Nicolas Archambault, choreographed by Stacey Tooke, to "Permanent" by David Cook (YAY! How happy can a SYTYCD & AI fan be!!!)

The storyline:
A man and a woman are truly in love... but he's going to war and ultimately, there's something she hasn't told him.

A man torn between love and duty. The most moving piece I've seen of all the performances from SYTYCD.

This happens every day, folks... every day... May we find Peace, if only to avoid this kind of painful goodbye from happening ever again.

If you want to see the video that includes judges comments, click HERE.

This is what dance is all about. It's not: "were the extensions good?" , "how were the lines", "did she point her toes properly"... it's about bringing a piece to life and making you feel the emotion behind it. It's life set to music.

Félicitations Nico! Not bad for a dancer who is deaf in one ear.

Songbird: I know, I'm an introvert...

Blarney: There's something about dance that speaks to my soul.

Sarah: I feel blessed that I get to watch ours and yours. Oh, me too ;)

You said it perfectly Anndi...

It's not: "were the extensions good?" , "how were the lines", "did she point her toes properly"... it's about bringing a piece to life and making you feel the emotion behind it. It's life set to music.

Exactly!

This is so true for any art.

Thanks for sharing, my friend!

I totally get into that show - the US version, anyway. But I would totally watch Canada's version too! I can't wait till it starts again here!

Dance is all those things. For me, it's mastering the technique so well that we know the toes were pointed and the lines were strong and we never notice. And in the not noticing, we fall into the magic.

Congratulations Nico.

My only regret with these shoes is that we so rarely get to see the kids again.

i may have to start watching SYTYCD instead of dancing with the stars. it was truly disappointing this season.

OK, I'm going to publicly admit that I have never watched one of these shows (U.S., Canadian, Bavarian) EVER. Not once. I know I'm a bad person. :(

Gary: and samba, and paso, and hip-hop, and afro-jazz... ;)

Cat: *giggle*

HP: I can't wait for the next version of SYTYCD (both yours and ours)!

Travis: It's important that the competitors actually have the proper technique, but when they fail to convey the emotion, it falls flat.

hehehe shoes

Slyde: I can't hide anything from you, can I?

Karen: I knew I liked you!

Kate: We all need to find things that make us smile.

Buff: I'll take of that stuff for you, babe!

Virginia: I know what you mean. I wasn't a big Brooke fan.

GF: That's ok... I accept you just the way you are ;)

Bond: Shoes, legs.... yup.

Yeah, yeah... you always say that.

Not quite yet.

VM: Look up. :)

That was beautiful!

I have never watched that show but the way you described their dance was really beautiful and right on.
And I'm sure it was most touching, considering that most of them will not be home with their families for the holidays. That always makes me sad.

On a different note, he's really deaf in one ear?

Anndi said...

Lu: Chicklet and I love it... when it starts again, you have to read Travis's reviews (over at Trav's Thoughts) ;)

Bond: He was one of our favs all season long.

Nick: That was one number that fit in so well with the peace theme I had going lately. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Dana: Wasn't it!

Tracy: WE love the dance shows in this house.
With so many members of the military so far from home during the holidays, yeah, it makes it even sadder.
He is... amazing huh?

Travis Cody said...

DOH! You said toe pointing and THAT is all about the shoes!

TopChamp said...

Partially deaf? WOW! THat is a moving dance (the 2nd one). I hate how the individual dances are so short you could blink and miss them.

The Stiletto Mom said...

You are Canadian? I love Canadians! I even professed my love of all things Canadian on my blog recently.

My mother in law is from Montreal...so beautiful there.

Anndi said...

Trav: LOL indeed...

Topchamp: He is!
I tear up every time I watch it.
The solos are very short, but I think it's because they're choreographed by the dancers and not all dancers are good choreographers.

SM: Yup! I'll have to check that out.

We're from Montreal :) And yes, it is... just snow covered at the moment, though.
